Optical sensing makes heart-rate measurement accessible, but movement can obscure the pulse. This paper benchmarks open-source algorithms for estimating heart rate from motion-corrupted photoplethysmography.

The study places algorithm evaluation at the centre of the problem: how to assess methods when the input signal is affected by motion. The published article contains the methodology, comparisons, and results.
