I'm Marcello, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bologna. I study the signals our bodies produce and build software for wearable sensing and digital health.
I hold a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Bologna, with research experience at Scripps Research in San Diego and DRCMR in Copenhagen. My PhD work focused on the analysis of wearable sensor data, particularly in the context of sleep and cardiac health.

My goal is to bridge the gap between physiological understanding and practical applications. I start with a question about human physiology and try to end with something you can run, inspect, or build on.
I work with wearable signals, from cardiac activity and movement during sleep to their interplay on a run. I’m especially interested in multimodal physiology: how different physiological systems interact, and what we can learn by looking at those signals together rather than in isolation.
